How abstract can a figurative painting be?
Sometimes leaving out an object or a wanderer in the distance is enough to create a barely figurative painting close to crossing the border into the abstract. It is on this line where the Byelorussian artist Natalya Zaloznaya balances. Minor accents on a painting in combination with a given title is what makes her art recognisable. The importance of Zaloznaya’s work lies in what she conquers with her abstraction. In her way of applying the paint structure, colour nuances appear that give rise to a wide range of deep emotions.

Zaloznaya studied in Moscow and Minsk and enjoys today a prominent place within contemporary painting in her country of origin. Her work has been exhibited in several European countries and is part of the collection at the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow and that of the Byelorussian State Museum in Minsk.
